HOULTON – Our Mother, Ardrith McIntire, 87 years-young, passed away on April 25, 2009, after a long bout with Alzheimer's Disease. Ardrith was born in Monticello, one of three children, to the late Arthur and Edith Folsom Briggs.
She attended Ricker College where she met and married Fred McIntire. They raised four children, three perfect sons: Larry, Tom and Chuck; and one so-so daughter, Lisa, on the family farm in Perham. She was employed by Tater State Frozen Foods for a number of years with O’Donnells in Presque Isle.
Treasurer for the Town of Perham, and baker for Corner Restaurant in Newport, she will be remembered for her excellent cooking, especially her beans and her pies. She loved to play cards, dance and never passed a garage sale without slamming on the brakes.
She attended Calvary Baptist Church while she resided in Newport.
In addition to sons Larry of Presque Isle, Tom and daughter-in-law Cheryl of CT, Chuck and daughther-in-law Nancy of Bridgewater, and daughter Lisa and son-in-law Frank of Winterport, she leaves behind grandchildren Shelly, Mellica, Charles, Misha, Holy, Kurt, Kierra, Lilani and Gemmalisa, Bobbie, Craig, Lisa, Lori, Alanna and Ethan. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear and beloved friends.
She was predeceased by one brother, Bill. She also leaves one sister, Marjorie Merrill of San Diego, CA; and one sister-in-law Reita Briggs of Houlton.
Thank you, Mum, for being a very loving mother and grandmother and for showing us how to love by the way you lived each day.
