To the editor:
Tom Greenlaw is right to expect an apology. The “mommy cop” was definitely wrong when she took his dog from his private property. Why is it so difficult to apologize? Surely she doesn’t think her actions were justified!
Seems as though when she went out to talk to the children at the day care, she could have gone across the street to apologize to Tom. He is a fairly laid back person, but when it came to stealing his dog — and that is what it amounted to — he naturally blew his top. Wouldn’t you?
His dog, Lacey, has been his companion for all of her 13 years, even going to work with him in the telephone truck about every day. I, as well as several other citizens, feel that an apology is in order. If not a public apology, then perhaps a personal visit to Tom and Lacey from the police officer would suffice.
I also think it is great that we live in a country where you can still voice an opinion without fear of prosecution or retaliation.
