Calaman, HPD officer completes advanced training

ImageHOULTON — The Maine Department of Public Safety has announced that Kristin J. Calaman of the Houlton Police Department recently graduated with 52 other officers from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. The commencement speaker was Maine Attorney General Janet Mills.
    The new officers completed 18 weeks of study and training in many diverse areas such as criminal and traffic enforcement, sexual assault, domestic violence, first aid, firearms and crime scene processing.
    Calaman, a native of Pennsylvania, has lived in Houlton since 1997. He and his wife Lisa, have two children, Asher and Michaela, in addition to his stepchildren Logan and Mariah Boyd.
    Reflecting on his recent accomplishment, Calaman said: “I’m definitely excited to be back in Houlton and fully accredited for my career in police work. I love working with people in the community.”
    The Houlton Police Department complimented Calaman on his graduation when Lt. Daniel Pelletier said: “The police department is happy to have him back from the academy. We are now full-staffed with 13 sworn officers.”
