DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Barbara Gail Merritt, 65, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at home. She was born October 8, 1943, in Houlton, Maine, the daughter of Elbridge (Stub) and Dorothy (Benn) Merritt.
Barbara attended Hodgdon and Houlton schools. She is survived by daughters, Tina (Josh) Porter, Terri (Dave) Osborne and Lori (Acey) Crawford and six grandchildren, all of Florida. Sisters, Donna (Frank) Hurley of Caribou, Beverly (Mike) Hanagan of California, Nancy (Roger) Smith of New Limerick, Sally (Carl) Blake of Houlton, Kathryn Megquier of Orient, Amy Merritt of South Carolina. Brothers, George (Sharon) Merritt of Hodgdon, Jerel (Sandra) Merritt of Linneus and Steven Merritt of Littleton. Sister-in-law, Dawn (Gordon) Anderson of New Limerick and Aunts Helen (Benn) Hagan and Rita Benn of Houlton and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mothers, Virginia (Cone) Merritt and Mildred (Boutilier) Merritt; brothers, Phillip and Kenneth Merritt; and brother-in-law, Harold (Mac) Megquier.
Twilight graveside services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
