PRESQUE ISLE — On Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the University of Maine at Presque Isle will hold a dedication ceremony and tour of UMPI’s new GIS/GPS laboratory. Earlier this summer, the University received a $96,800 Maine Technology Asset Fund grant from the Maine Technology Institute to fund a state-of-the-art GIS and GPS laboratory — a lab to be used for classroom instruction as well as community training and services. Under the direction of Dr. Chunzeng Wang, assistant professor of geoscience and GIS, the lab — officially called the “Geospatial Information Technology Center” — is now complete. The dedication will be held in Folsom Hall, Room 201. For further information, call 768-9412.
