HOULTON — A string of incidents in town has Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin asking residents to contact the department if they see or hear something suspicious.
“It doesn’t represent a trend,” Asselin said of recent vandalism cases and burglaries over the last week. He added that a search warrant was executed Monday involving residents of Presque Isle who may be responsible for more than one burglary.
Asselin said “you know your neighbors and we need to look out for each other. If you see something suspicious, call us and make sure your doors and windows are locked when you are not at home since there have been residential burglaries during the day.”
Under investigation
A cash register was reported stolen from Ken’s Store on the Calais Rd., 10:13 p.m. Nov. 21 after the front window was broken. A vehicle with four people was involved, according to the police report.
Police observed forced entry, broken glass and what appeared to be blood at Ferris Quik Stop on Military St. later that evening after a burglar alarm went off at 11:32 p.m. Witnesses, according to police, observed a male and a female leaving the scene. The Border Patrol was called to assist.
A green Ford Thunderbird located on Columbia Street, also according to police, apparently had blood on the inside of the passenger door. That case is under investigation and involves Presque Isle residents.
