Dawn McDonald on dean’s list
    MELBOURNE, Fla. — Dawn McDonald, a resident of Oakfield, was among the students from Florida Institute of Technology who were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester, which ended in December. McDonald is a biomathematics major.
    To be included on the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits in a semester with a semester grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.4.
     Florida Institute of Technology, the only independent technological university in the Southeast, offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees and is listed among America’s best colleges in U.S. News & World Report. It is located in Melbourne, on Florida’s Space Coast, less than an hour from Kennedy Space Center.
Danforth resident earns degree from Kaplan University
    Ruth Brittain of Danforth has been awarded a Master of Science degree in Management from Kaplan University. Brittain’s accomplishment was celebrated during a live graduation ceremony on Jan. 30 in Miami. General Colin L. Powell, the 65th Secretary of State and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, served as the commencement speaker.
    The Kaplan University winter 2010 class of more than 3,300 students earned their associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees – as well as professional certificates – completely online.
