Lamont, Marjorie A. (Brewer), 87, Bridgewater; in Caribou. Memorial services will be held March 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Mars Hill. Committal services will be held at Corner Cemetery in Bridgewater later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

 

 

    Caribou, Maine – Marjorie A. (Brewer) Lamont, age 87, of Bridgewater passed away March 14, 2008, at the Caribou Nursing Home. She was born in Glassville, New Brunswick, Canada on October 19th, 1920. Marjorie was the daughter of Edward & Alice (Sweeney) Brewer of Glassville, New Brunswick, Canada.
    As a young woman, Marjorie worked on the family farm in New Brunswick, Canada. Marjorie was a determined woman; she was one of the first women in the Glassville area to have a driver’s license. Marjorie relocated to the United States with her husband in 1949, where she held numerous positions over the years. She worked at the Presque Isle Air Force Base, Loring Air Force Base, Aroostook Shoe, Converse Rubber and McCains. Marjorie was the recipient of numerous performance awards over the years because of her strong work ethic.
    Marjorie enjoyed playing the organ, knitting, cooking and volunteering for her local church. She used her musical talents at church services while a member of the United Church of England in West Glassville, New Brunswick, Canada, and was a member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church.
    Marjorie is survived by sons, Lewis Lamont and his wife Clara, Gary Lamont and his partner Jennifer Green, Brian Lamont and his wife Debbie. Marjorie leaves 11 grandchildren: Peter Lamont and his wife Carrie; Kathy (Lamont) Scott and her husband Walter; Cindy (Lamont) Johnson and her husband Edwin; David Lamont; Franz Michot, Lisa Michot, Wayne Michot and Jody Michot; Cher Lamont; Kelley (Lamont) Kinney and her husband Paul; Kristopher Lamont and his wife Meredith. Marjorie also leaves her great-grandchildren Amanda, Jessica, Joey, Jason, Noah, Sadie, and Riley.
    Marjorie is also survived by her sisters: Anne Rediker of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; Viola and her husband Forest Dean of Wooster, Ohio; Jessie and her husband Harold McKim of Bath, New Brunswick, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
    Marjorie was predeceased by Kenneth, her husband of 57 years, her daughter Marilyn, her daughter-in-law Sheila, her great-grandson Shawn, her sisters Bessie and Kay, and her brother Jack.
    Memorial services will be held March 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Mars Hill, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.   Committal services will be held at Corner Cemetery in Bridgewater later in the spring. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and residents of the Caribou Nursing Home for the kindness and compassion extended to Marjorie during her long illness.
