West Boylston, MA – Mina Fern Noble Beals, 89, loving wife of the late Cleveland Beals, died Monday, March 17, 2008 after an illness. She was born August 14, 1918 in Blaine, ME. She was the youngest child of Harry and Ida (Currie) Noble of Mars Hill and Freeport, Maine.
Mrs. Beals graduated from Aroostook Central Institute High School, Mars Hill, ME in 1937 and regularly coordinated their reunion activities for many years. After raising her children, she worked for the University of Maine for 26 years as secretary, first at the Potato Handling Research Center and then at the Aroostook Farm before retiring. She was an active member of the First Free Baptist Church of Blaine, belonged to the Women’s Missionary Society of the church, the Happy Hour Club, the Mars Hill and Blaine Community Club and the Blaine & Mars Hill Senior Citizen Group holding offices in each club at various times. She moved to West Boylston, MA in 2001 to be closer to her loving family. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, crosswords and reading.
Mina is survived by a daughter, Judith and her husband, Dick Roiko of Leominster; 9 grandchildren, Danny Beals and his wife Mary of Milford, Bart Beals and his wife Marsha of Hudson, Lee Beals and his wife Ann of Shrewsbury, Denise Lake and her husband Tom of West Boylston, Shannon Spencer and her husband Eric of Worcester, Todd Beals of Grafton, Richard King of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tina Sontag and her husband Andy of West Boylston and Tammy Caley and her husband John of Leominster; two brothers-in-laws; Harris Beals of Longport, NJ and Wes Beals of Mars Hill, ME; one sister-in-law;,Katherine Noble of CT. She is also survived by 19 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Cleveland Beals; a son, Hazen Beals and a granddaughter, Peggy Calvillo and seven brothers and sisters.
Friends and family called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, ME. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Free First Baptist Church, 21 Robinson Rd., Blaine, ME. Burial will be in Topley Cemetery, Blaine, ME.
