Mapleton’s next queen will be crowned on March 29 in the Presque Isle High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Former Miss Mapleton, Chelsea Kaiser, will perform the master of ceremony responsibilities for the 2008 Miss and Junior Miss Mapleton Pageant.
The 2007 Miss Mapleton, Brianne Calabrese, and 2007 Junior Miss Mapleton, Rachel Dow will perform for the final time and say farewell as they give up their title to a new queen. Due to extenuating circumstances, the Little Miss Mapleton pageant will not be held this year, so the 2007 Little Miss Mapleton, Lucy Condon, will also give up her crown and say farewell at the pageant.
The Mapleton Ladies Extension is asking any former queens, Little Miss, Junior Miss or Miss to come out and show community pride by wearing their crown and banner to showcase all prior Mapleton queens.
Six contestants will vie for the 2008 Junior Miss Mapleton title. Naomi McEachern, a sixth-grade student at Presque Isle Middle School and daughter of Pam and Bruce McEachern, will sing “Fabulousa” for her talent presentation. Samantha Buck, an eighth-grade student at PIMS and daughter of Andrew and Angela Buck, will play a piano piece entitled “Beauty and the Beast” for her talent. Sarah McEachern, an eighth-grade student at PIMS and daughter of Pam and Bruce McEachern, will be clogging to “Dreams” for her talent. Claire Cheney, an eighth-grade student at PIMS and daughter of David and Shari Cheney, will sing “The Way I Was Made” for her talent presentation. Elena Ford, a sixth-grade student at PIMS and daughter of Dr. Hank and Helena Ford will dance to “Nobody’s Perfect” for her talent. Michaela Powers, an eighth-grade student at PIMS and daughter of Joe and Sue Powers, will perform a ballet routine en pointe to the theme song from “The Piano”.
Four contestants will compete for the Miss Mapleton title. Jocelyn Davis, a junior at Presque Isle High School and daughter of Phil and Laurie Davis, will perform a jazz dance to “Push It to the Limit”. Paige McEachern, a junior at PIHS and daughter of Pam and Bruce McEachern will play the piano and sing “Made to Worship” for her talent. Hannah Cheney, a junior a PIHS and daughter of David and Shari Cheney will sing “Every Season”. Rachel Churchill, a junior at PIHS and daughter of Jim and Cathy Churchill will sing “Jesus Take the Wheel”.
Those wishing to attend can purchase tickets from any of the contestants or at the door for $6. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
