Literacy Volunteers of Aroostook County Tutor Training will be held April 12 and 13 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. or April 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can attend either morning or evening, but you will need to attend both day one and two of either session.
The training will be at the Adult Education/Higher Education Center on Military Street in Houlton. For more information, call Barbara Sutton at 325-3490.
Literacy Volunteers Aroostook is offering these two tutor-training options to the community to become trained literacy tutors. Once trained, tutors will work with adult literacy students from the Houlton and Hodgdon area.
The tutor training will provide the new tutor with the skills and materials to assist adult learners to read, write and become more literate community members.
Literacy success is the key to helping an adult become a more productive employee, more involved parent and a better-prepared community member. Helping another person learn to read and write changes the community in ways one can’t imagine.
