The Maine Military & Community Network is giving people in Aroostook County a chance to hear first-hand what issues are being faced by service members and their families when returning home from deployment.
“To War and Back Again: Your Neighborhood Service Member Talks about Coming Home” will feature a service member from Aroostook County discussing the return home after deployment, followed by a presentation on the effects of deployment on children.
Organizers say that the presentation will give community members a better idea of the various issues being faced by service members and their families in Maine. With more than 2,300 Maine National Guard members having deployed since Sept. 11, 2001, organizers say there are service members and families throughout Maine who could use additional community support.
“To War and Back Again: Your Neighborhood Service Member Talks about Coming Home” is scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, May 6 at Cary Medical Center.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, which will run until 8:30 p.m.. Pizza will be available and there will be door prizes given away throughout the night.
Although walk-ins are welcome, those wishing to RSVP for the event should e-mail Jon Jensen at khite.jensen@ us.army.mil.
