Maliseet Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program
The Maliseet Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program has just wrapped up a very successful April Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Program is most appreciative of the collaboration/partnership with the AMHC Sexual Assault Services in the many awareness activities. ‘Denim Day in Aroostook County’ was observed by many Houlton area businesses and agencies. Hopefully everyone got an opportunity to see the denim display in the window at the Blue Moon Gallery and the shawl stories and clothesline project display at the Houlton Higher Education Center.
The first Sexual Assault Awareness 5K Run/Walk was held April 24 with more than 100 participants. There are so many to thank for their contribution to raising the awareness in Aroostook County to the crime of sexual violence.
National Employee Health and Fitness Day
May 19 is National Employee Health and Fitness Day. HBMI staff will once again be taking part in healthy activities throughout the day. We all know the many benefits of massage and this year we have the opportunity for Massage Therapist, Shirley Armitage to come and offer chair massages during the morning. Please call Alissa Black, Maliseet fitness coordinator, at 532-2240, ext. 34 if you would like to sign up for this, as she needs a specific number before scheduling.
