County Federal Credit Union lauds employees at annual business meeting

    The County Federal Credit Union held its 54th annual meeting on Monday, May 3, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. The nearly 200 members in attendance listened as Ken Hensler, president and CEO, and Ellen Bemis, chair of the board of directors, gave several reports covering various aspects of the credit union for 2009.

CITED — The following employees of The County Federal Credit Union were recently recognized for their years’ of service.     Hensler reported that The County Federal Credit Union ended 2009 with $693,401 of net income. Also in 2009, the credit union reached a record $124,235,852 in total assets. This growth in total assets represents an increase of 14 percent over last year.
    The meeting included presentations to employees who had reached milestones in their years of service at the credit union. Also, as part of the credit union’s participation in the Maine Credit Union League’s Ending Hunger Campaign, Hensler presented checks to seven local organizations totaling $3,066.82 to assist with their programs in distributing food in local communities.  
    The organizations included: Bread of Life Soup Kitchen, Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry, Friends Helping Friends, GIFT, M&M Ministries, St. Louis Ecumenical Food Pantry and the Sister Mary O’Donnell Shelter.
    A special letter written by Gloria Hebert was read by Hensler. Mrs. Hebert has been a member of the credit union for 53 of its 54 years and the letter gave a personal history of the importance of her relationship with the credit union, not only for her but for her family as well.
    The meeting concluded with many door prizes for the members.
    The County Federal Credit Union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government. Today, the credit union has over $130 million in total assets and is wholly-owned by its members and serves 22 communities in the central Aroostook area.
