The final Heal Point standings have been released, and five area teams vying in the quarterfinal round, with one team who faced a preliminary game scheduled for yesterday.
In Class C baseball, the Houlton Shiretowners (7-9) slipped into the ninth position and played off against No. 8 Orono on Tuesday. If the Shires win, they advance to Thursday’s quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Foxcroft Academy. The Shires played the Ponies twice this season, losing 15-7 and 9-3.
The Hodgdon Hawks finished at No. 18 with a 6-9 record.
The Houlton Lady Shires wrapped up their year in 16th with a 5-11 record, while the Hodgdon Lady Hawks were 15th with a 4-11 record in Class C softball.
Finishing with a 13-1 record, the No. 3 Southern Aroostook Warriors will host No. 6 Wisdom (11-4) tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in the Class D baseball quarterfinal round.
On the girls’ side, the top-ranked Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors (12-2) will host No. 8 East Grand (5-5) at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow in Dyer Brook. The teams met each other on May 19, with the Lady Warriors defeating the Vikings, 12-8.
The No. 3 Katahdin Cougars (10-4) are set to play No. 5 Deer Isle-Stonington (9-7) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Stacyville. The teams met for a doubleheader, with each team picking up a win. The Mariners won the first game, 3-2 and the Cougars took the second game, 4-2.
In softball, the No. 4 Katahdin Lady Cougars (13-2) will host Central Aroostook (10-6) today at 2:30 p.m. in Stacyville. The two teams have not met on the season.
Capping off the Class D area baseball teams, Greater Houlton Christian Academy was 10th with a 5-9 record, while East Grand finished last with a 1-10 tally, while the No. 9 Greater Houlton Christian Academy Lady Eagles had a 5-10 record.
