HAMMOND — A Houlton woman missing since June 3 was located early Monday morning. Margaret Fauver, 37, was reported missing by a friend on Friday June 4, at 6:46 a.m., according to Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin.
“The caller requested a welfare check on Fauver, who left a message for the friend asking her to take care of her pets and that she intended to take her vehicle and harm herself,” he said.
She was located in Hammond at 6:12 a.m. Monday and transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with self inflicted injuries.
According to Asselin, Fauver managed to walk approximately one mile to a residence in Hammond with self inflicted injuries to both arms near the elbow. The Hammond resident called 9-1-1. The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and Houlton Police Department responded. Fauver was transported to the hospital via ambulance.
Police surmised that Fauver was still in the area because her pick-up truck had transmission problems and was low on gas. Area police departments were notified and her information was entered into NCIC. HPD was checking her residence, back roads, shopping centers and motels for Fauver since she was reported missing.
“Fauver managed to locate an abandoned camp with a garage off the B Road in Hammond,” the chief said. “She parked her truck in the garage and used a tarp to cover the opening.”
Her truck eventually ran out of gas and once she awoke, Fauver walked approximately one mile for assistance.
Asslein added the police department was “grateful that Fauver is OK and getting the medical attention that she needs.”
