To the editor:
I should begin by saying I do not believe the Bridgewater Town Office or the majority of the population of Bridgewater are aware of what I discovered at the Smith Cemetery.
I am extremely appalled by what I found at the Smith Cemetery in Bridgewater. I took a number of photographs as evidence to what I discovered. A farmer, whose field borders the cemetery, plowed in such a way that it shows exposed plowed dirt next to gravestones and worse. I found items from the graves on the plowed dirt next to the field.
I have lived in numerous states and countries and have personally witnessed such a thing only a few times. I have done and continue to do freelance reporting (as well as photography). I mainly submit my material to The New York Times and New York Daily News.
Anyone would be appalled by what I saw. I am even more so than most who visit Bridgewater or Maine. You see, I have countless descendants buried there (including my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents). This will explain why I am so personally involved and plan to create an investigation to what ever authorities I must. I plan to send a copy of this letter to the Governor of Maine.
I hope that this will upset the Bridgewater Town Office as well.
