HOULTON, Maine — The Gentle Memorial Building was transformed into a Valentine’s Day paradise Friday evening as Houlton Elementary School held its third annual “Daughter Dance.”
More than 100 students and their “dates” attended this year’s event, which serves as a fundraiser for the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization.
“The event went very well,” said Cindy DeLucca, PTO member. “We changed the location to the rec center to provide more space.”
D.J. Norton provided the music for the evening and kept the youngsters engaged with “the Chicken Dance” and “the Cha Cha Slide,” while mixing in popular dance songs.
Sweets for the evening were baked by many HES families, while large fruit, veggie, meat and cheese platters were donated by Andy’s IGA. Grand Rental Station also provided a punch fountain and Daniel’s Florist provided carnations at wholesale cost.
