TOPS ME 0233 of Houlton

Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 0233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, May 13 meeting. Nineteen ladies were in attendance; four of them were KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly).
Denise Clark, leader, led the meeting.
    The skinny dish was won by Melva Folsom. Loser of the week was Margaret Hagerman with Aileen Smith as runner-up.
Denise announced a new contest to start in June, called “Catch a Falling Star.”
The workshop is June 4. Barbara Grant spoke on plans of the workshop. The theme is “Fit as a Fiddle.”
The program given by Denise was Appetite and Exercise. Several comments by the members were given.
TOPS 233 met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its May 5 meeting. Denise Clark led the meeting with 15 members and two KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). Loser of the week was Melva Folsom with Lois Downing as runner-up.
The skinny dish was won by Diane Folsom. Everyone has a free week as the result of the mountain contest, concluded last week.
A review of the bylaws was done and no revisions were made. A treasurer’s report was given by Janette Nelson.

Weigh-in time is 8-8:45 a.m. every Friday. No weigh-in time is given after this time. The meeting starts at 9 and usually ends an hour later.

PURPLE HAT SOCIETY

The Purple Hat Society met Tuesday, May 10, at the SAVE (Southern Aroostook Vocational Education) building on Bird Street, Houlton. The count for the ladies came to 17. Charlotte Marley, leader, was in attendance to greet everyone. We all gave our Purple Hat name after the meal. We had a nice meal, and thanked everyone who served and cooked.
Dolores Locke took home the Purple Shoe, yellow and purple in color. We sang Happy Birthday to Kay Grass, celebrating her birthday on this day. We voted to give a monetary gift to the food drive in Bangor. Charlotte will send a check.
We had a reading by Cindy Gray. Several of the girls: Charlotte Duff, Lois Downing, Helen Blois, Rose Levesque, Dolores Locke, Wannetta Townsend and Marie Gillotti had a reading called “Me Mudder.” The next gathering will be at Brookside Inn at Smyrna on Tuesday, June 14.
