Team to play Bangor West tonight
On Monday at the Savings Bank of Maine field, the Houlton Major Little League All-stars struck early and often as they overpowered Orono/Veazie, 18-2 in four innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
The Houlton all-stars took command of the game with a 10-run second inning and then added five more runs in the third and three in the final stanza.
Abe Lorom keeps his eyes on the ball
Billy Phillips went 3-for-3 from the plate, including an RBI-double, a three-run homer in the third and a two-run shot in the fourth. Nate Mooers doubled twice, while Caleb Tribou, Connor Grant and Abe Lorom each doubled and singled. Nick Cowperthwaite drove in two runs with a third-inning triple.
On the hill, Cameron Graham, Cowperthwaite and Grant combined for a one-hitter, with 10 strikeouts over four innings of work.
For Orono/Veazie, Keenan Collett had their lone hit.
Houlton’s next game is tonight at Bangor West, starting at 5:30 p.m.
