Aroostook Auto Glass wins Houlton Little League softball championship

HOULTON, Maine — A powerful hitting display catapulted Aroostook Auto Glass to the Houlton Little League Softball championship June 21 with a 13-7 victory over F.A. Peabody Company.
Kristen Graham pitched the win for Aroostook Auto Glass, scattering seven runs on seven hits and six walks, with four strikeouts. Cassie Butler pitched the loss for F.A. Peabody, allowing 13 runs on nine hits and seven walks, with three strikeouts.
    Kristen Graham also made a nifty catch in the bottom of the first inning as she chased down a popup on the third base line.
Leading the way for Aroostook Auto Glass were Rylee Warman (2 singles, 2 runs), K. Graham (2 singles, 2 runs), Rebecca Mooers (single, run), Jackie Green (single, run), Abby Schools (2 singles), and Sydney Ellis (single, run).
Pacing F.A. Peabody were: Victoria Holmes (triple, single, run), Marissa DeLaite (single, run), Elizabeth Ward (single), Aspen Flewelling (single, double) and Gabby Guiod (double).
Aroostook Auto Glass got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the top of the second inning. Grace Graham and Abbie Worthley both drew walks to start the inning and moved up on a passed ball. Abby Schools beat out an infield hit to load the bases with one away. Following a strikeout, Warman followed with an infield hit, scoring G. Graham. Kristen Graham then reached on an error, scoring Worthley.
After Aroostook Auto Glass added two more in the top of the third for a 4-0 lead, F.A. Peabody got one run back in the bottom of inning. Butler drew a walk and came around to score when Holmes ripped a triple to the fence.
In the top of the fourth inning, Aroostook Auto Glass broke the game open, plating four more runs to take a 8-1 lead. In that inning, Warman reached on an error and moved to second on K. Graham’s infield hit. Mooers plated Warman when she reached on an error. Grace Graham also reached on an error, loading the bases. Worthley walked in a run and then two runs scored on a fielder’s choice by Angelina Jones.
Aroostook Auto added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning for a commanding 10-1 lead, but F.A. Peabody rallied with four runs in the home half of the frame. In that rally, Gabby Guiod, Butler, Tyra Gentle, Holmes and Samantha Condon all reached via walks. Ward plated two runs when she blasted a double to the outfield, cutting the lead in half, 10-5.
That would be as close as F.A. Peabody would get, as Aroostook Auto Glass added three more insurance runs for the win.
Members of the Aroostook Auto Glass team include Carolyn Mooers, Angelina Jones, Worthley, G. Graham, Jenna Carver, R. Warman, Kelly McLaughlin, R. Mooers, K. Graham, Green, Schools, Ellis and Jillian Haggerty. The coaches are Montie Graham, Jon Worthley and Clyde Warman.
Members of the F.A. Peabody Company team include Kyleigh Tyler, Mercedes McAfee, Kelsey Sewall, Madison Grant, Condon, Guiod, Butler, Morgan Grant, Olivia Gervais, Flewelling, Elizabeth Ward, Holmes, DeLaite and Gentle. The coaches are Harold Flewelling and Rick Holmes.
