Madawaska man strikes moose

    HOULTON — A 57-year-old Madawaska man escaped serious harm June 20 when he collided with a moose on the North Road. According to Houlton Police Lieutenant Dan Pelletier, Donald Sirois was driving his 2006 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up truck on the North Road, near the Stardust Hotel when he struck a moose.
    The moose was killed as a result of the impact. The animal and the vehicle were both hauled away by Westerdahl’s towing service of Houlton. Sgt. Fred Parker investigated the crash.
    Damage estimates and the extent of any injuries suffered were not known by presstime.
