PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Kimberly Hall, a Presque Isle resident and former professional model, will be offering a Fashion Modeling course through the Wintergreen Arts Center beginning Feb. 18. Hall has extensive modeling experience in South Florida and Virginia. She has modeled in and coordinated several runway shows, including bridal shows and pageants; has appeared in newspaper and TV advertisements, has served as a TV spokesperson for a national health charity, done special promotions for national food and beverage companies, has co-hosted a morning-drive-time radio show, has worked as a television announcer, and specializes in “freeze” or mannequin modeling.
Hall notes that one does not have to be tall, thin, or young to be a model. As she points out, “Clothing retailers have finally realized that we come in all shapes and sizes. That is the reason there are now specialty stores for petites, big and tall, and plus sizes.”
This course is not only for those interested in learning more about the modeling industry. Participants will gain poise and self-confidence, whether it is for giving business presentations to a large crowd, walking across a stage or crowded room with grace, or simply posing for family photographs so that they flatter you.
In addition to the seven weekly classes included in the course, participants will gain practical experience, as well. An optional runway show, a freeze modeling show, and an informal modeling show will be held at the Aroostook Centre Mall, and a tearoom show will be held at Slopes Restaurant. The cost of the course is $70 and is available to males and females with a minimum age for participation of 13. Females should bring low, comfortable heels to class. The classes will be held on Sunday afternoons, beginning Feb. 18 from 1-3 p.m. at Wintergreen Arts Center, located next to Sears in the Mall.
All classes are offered at $5 per hour of instruction and seats are still available in painting, sculpting, digital filmmaking, printmaking, and drumming/rhythm adventures. Registration forms are available at the Aroostook Centre Mall Customer Service Desk, Morning Star Art & Framing, and the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library.
