Presque Isle – Lawrence A. Jordan, 89, died May 7, 2008, at his home in Presque Isle. He was born in Lincoln July 1, 1918, the son of Pearl and Elvira (Flemming) Jordan.
Lawrence served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 57th Signal Battalion from 1941 to 1945, stringing communication lines along the front lines in North Africa, Italy, France, Austria and Germany. Upon returning home from the war, he went to work for New England Telephone as an installer and repair person until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Hayward-Frazier Post # 2599 VFW, the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Predeceasing him was his wife, Erma Jacobs Jordan in 1998. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy J. Jordan of Atlanta, GA and Judy A. Frederic of Farmington; grandchildren Jay Arnold of Atlanta, GA and Katherine Morton and her husband, John of New York City; a brother, Harvey Jordan of Chester; sisters, Shirley Thurlow of Winn and Lorraine Leavitt of Millinocket and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 11th. Graveside services followed at 4:45 p.m. at the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle with the Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating.
