Wildcat softball picks up a win against the Golden Bucks

    Presque Isle softball split their doubleheader with Bucksport on the road on Saturday. The Wildcats scored four runs in the seventh inning to win the second game 4-2. PIHS fell in the first game 5-4.

    In the first game, Alison Young hit a single for two runs, and Kayla Lagassie added an RBI single for PIHS. In the second game, Kristina Coffin, Allisen Donovan and Janna Stephenson all hit singles.
    The Golden Bucks hit past Presque Isle baseball in their doubleheader on Saturday. In the first game (11-4), Bennett Cassidy hit two singles, and Adam Kingsbury posted an RBI double for PIHS. Nic Gallant and Ethan Braley added a single each. In the second game (12-2), Kingsbury slammed a homer for two runs for the Wildcats. Cassidy posted two singles.
Wildcats open against Warriors
    Presque Isle baseball fans enjoyed a perfect afternoon doubleheader as the Wildcats defended their home field against the visiting Fort Kent Warriors last Wednesday. PIHS swept their home-opener winning the first game 10-2 and the second 8-3.
    In the opening game, pitcher Matt Chasse notched his first win on the mound striking out six while allowing eight hits. Cassidy took over throwing duties in the sixth inning.
    Cassidy also lead offence with three hits and four RBIs. Steve Ford knocked a single and a crucial suicide squeeze for three RBIs. Braley posted one triple and one RBI, and Amos Dean added a single and an RBI. Wildcat defense kept a tight reign on Fort Kent’s batters with important plays by Brennan Shaw, Cassidy, Ford and Braley.
    “Gallant came up with an outstanding catch in right field to end a rally, and prevent two runs from scoring in the fifth inning,” commented head coach Tim Olore.
    In the second game, Shaw notched the win on the mound, and Cassidy had the save. They combined pitching skills for 13 strikeouts with five hits.
    At the plate Cassidy hit a single, and Gallant added an important bunt single. Chasse singled with an RBI. Dillon Kingsbury his a suicide squeeze RBI. Ford notched three singles and one RBI while Braley singled with an RBI.
    Along with Presque Isle’s sound pitching, PIHS defense saw decisive plays from A. Kinsbury, D. Kingsbury, Chasse, Shaw, Cassidy and Ford.
    Presque Isle softball’s pitcher Coffin kept tight control of Fort Kent’s offensive game last Wednesday to help the Wildcats post a home opener victory, 11-2.
    Coffin struck out 14 and walked three with only five hits. At the plate, Coffin hit a double for two runs and a single. Tiffany Martin posted two doubles for two runs.
