Carson forces MDI to an error

    Presque Isle and Mount Desert Island played a pairs match worth of the Eastern Maine title last Friday at the University of Maine at Presque Isle courts.         MDI pair Grace Robbins and Hannah Adelmann volleyed back to bring the score within one point, 7-6, of Madelyn Carson and Jen Steeves.

    At match point for the Wildcats, Carson made a hit a duo of aggressive saves, and forced MDI to make a safety lob that sailed out of the white for the win.
    The Presque Isle girls’ defeated the defending Eastern Maine Champions 4-1.
    In singles, Sarah Porter defeated Addie Maxwell 8-3, and Amy Michaud defeated Rebecca Thormann 8-3. Divya Bisht dropped her match 8-0.
    Also in doubles, Brittany Bearden and Alyssa Farley defeated Nevora Lemoine and Hannah Worcester 8-2.
    Presque Isle boys’ tennis lost to the thus far undefeated MDI team, 4-1. Wildcat Alex Carter defeated Jamie Thormann 8-6 for PIHS.
    The Wildcats went on to defeat Foxcroft Academy on Saturday 4-1 in girls’ tennis and 5-0 in boys’ tennis.
    Presque Isle tennis volleyed to a decisive victory over Houlton last Wednesday winning all their matches at both the girls’ and boys’ tennis courts.
    In boys’ singles, Carter defeated Ashir Abouleish 8-2, Ben Picard defeated Musa Bilal 8-1 and Sam Picard defeated Derek Thomas 8-5.
    In doubles, Caleb Mathers and Chris Cawley defeated Lowell Mathews and Elliot Mooers 8-1, and Kyle Gibson and Bryce Fagan kept the win over Craig Thomas and Malik Abouleish 8-6.
    In girls’ singles, Porter defeated Anna Caron 8-1, Allison Dean defeated Hiba Bilal 8-1 and Michaud defeated Kelsey Fitzpatrick 8-0.
    In doubles, Bearden and Courtney Hoffses took down Holly Bouvier and Tasha Ponder, and Lindsay Michaud and Bisht defeated Emily McGary and Desiree Deprey 8-0.
