FORT FAIRFIELD – The Beavers traveled to Tiger territory last Friday for Class D baseball and softball action with mixed results.
At the baseball diamond, Fort Fairfield took an early 12-run lead in the first inning toward the 20-4 final.
Josh Booth led FFHS with a triple, single and two RBIs. Ian Towle posted a double, single and three RBIs. Austin Dufour also hit a double, single and two RBIs. Teammates Jeremy Dillon, Josh Churchill and Bo Everett all added two singles.
Beavers Seth Viola and Ethan Doody paced Washburn with a single each.
In softball, the Beavers protected their perfect record, 4-0, with a 24-7 victory. WDHS athlete Dakota Koch sprinted for three stolen bases, and hit two doubles and a single in the win. Rachel Palmer posted a homer for two runs and a double.
Fort Fairfield’s Kelly Lynch cranked out two singles and snuck around Beaver defense for three stolen bases. Sarah Hebert hit two singles and also had two steals for the Tigers.
The first three innings of Class D baseball action remained scoreless last Wednesday as Central Aroostook and Fort Fairfield defense kept a tight watch on each other’s batters. But, in the bottom of the sixth inning the Tigers pounded round the bags for seven runs and the 7-3 win.
Central Aroostook scored one run in the fourth and two in the top of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough to keep FFHS from posting the victory on their home diamond.
Fort Fairfield athlete Ryan Noyes hit two singles and one RBI while Booth slammed an RBI double. Jason Hoyt and Dufour added an RBI single each.
Panther Cameron York hit two singles and one RBI for CAHS.
At Fort Fairfield’s softball field, Central Aroostook ran away with the victory in the third inning with seven runs, and continued to widen the gap to the 24-11 final score.
Panther Latisha Neece led offense at the plate with two home runs and two singles for four RBIs. Sarah Long hit one triple and four singles for four RBIs, and Alex Dame had five singles for three RBIs. Rachel Donahue also sailed two home runs over the field.
Head coach Rod Codrey was pleased with the team’s progress after the game, but will continue to push the girls for improvement. “I think we played defense well but not up to our potential,” said Codrey. “I thin the team has stepped up and played well, but there is more room for improvement.”
Fort Fairfield’s Maryl Shaw and Shannon Towle helped the Tigers with two singles and a double each.

At the baseball field, the Tigers posted the 16-2 victory. I. Towle had two singles and one double to help in four runs. Pat Kinsey hit a double and single with three RBIs while Cody Closson cranked out three singles and one RBI. Everett added two singles.
In softball action, FFHS put in over 20 runs for the 25-17 final. Katie Godin notched three doubles and two singles. S. Towle added four singles.
Southern Aroostook baseball pitching held to its fame last Thursday at the Fort Fairfield diamond. Warrior Dakota Sleeper kept the Tigers scoreless until the bottom of the seventh for their only run. SACS posted the 2-1 victory. Dufour hit an RBI single for FFHS.
CAHS downs Limestone
Central Aroostook baseball posted their second win of the season facing Limestone on their home field May 6, 13-2.
Panther Logan McLaughlin pitched the whole game, and struck out nine allowing four hits and two runs. Manny Martinez added two singles and a double for two runs. Blake McCarthy notched a double, single and five RBIs. Senior York hit a double and single.
Limestone softball continued their season record to 6-0 after five innings of Class D baseball with CAHS, 21-3.
Latisha Neece captained CAHS offense with two singles and one RBI. Gabrielle Brewer hit a single for two runs. Robin Graham had a double.
Beaver softball wins two
Washburn softball kicked off their first inning at Fort Kent with five runs toward the 12-4 victory last Thursday. Kelsee McLaughlin popped up a homer for two runs, and Kristen Goupille added four singles and one RBI.
Washburn softball swept their doubleheader with Greater Houlton Christian Academy on May 6. In the opening game, the Beavers scored seven runs in the first inning alone toward the 18-6 win. WDHS athlete McLaughlin pounded the ball for a homerun and singled. Goupille posted four singles and one RBI.
In the second game, the Beavers had another homerun from Dakota Koch for two runs. Koch also had two singles. Goupille posted four singles and two RBIs. Freshman Rebecca Campbell added three singles and seven RBIs for WDHS.
The Eagles played another round of victorious baseball and softball against Washburn Saturday.
Limestone softball remained undefeated keeping back the Washburn batters for a 17-9 final.
McLaughlin led WDHS with two singles, one double and two RBIs. Amber Reed added two singles and one double. Goupille and Rachel Palmer posted two singles each.
At the baseball diamond, the Eagles kept Washburn to three runs for a 16-3 win.
Beaver Matt Howe hit an RBI single, and Tyler Farley hit a double for Washburn.
Madawaska defense kept a tight reign over Monday’s baseball and softball games against Washburn.
In baseball, the Beavers tried to come back in the fifth inning from a 10-point deficit but the Owls won the day 15-5. Travis Conley led the Washburn effort with a double for two runs, and Farley added two singles for one run.
In softball, Madawaska kept Washburn scoreless for a 20-0 final. Beavers McLaughlin and Campbell both had singles in the loss.
