Raised in Bancroft, Lt. Col. Jerard Brewer has traveled the world fighting for our nation’s freedom. Now, he is hoping to inspire others’ patriotism through song.
Brewer, along with several other active and veteran servicemen are featured on the GI Jams Compilation Album Vol. 1 Original Music of U.S. Military Artists. GI Jams partnered with Rhino Custom Products, a division of Warner Music Group on Jan. 7.
“The digipak album features 14 tracks by eight of the most popular artists and bands on the GI Jams website (www.gijams.com). Each artist and band consists of active and veteran members of the U.S. Military,” according to a press release from Luck Media & Marketing, Inc.
The album includes two “Battlefield Music Videos” filmed in Iraq— one by the Joe Speed Band (Army National Guard sergeants) performing “Cowboy Soldiers,” and the next featuring Army Chief Warrant Officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot Adrian Manual singing “Freedom” while flying in his helicopter.
GI Jams, a Nevada-based multi-media company dedicated to showcasing and promoting the original music and performances of active and veteran U.S. military troops, has members who’ve joined its website and uploaded their music from military bases and war zones worldwide, including Iraq and Afghanistan, stated Luck Media & Marketing, Inc press release.
One of the featured performers is Lt. Col. Brewer, a 24-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, mobilized three times in support of Kosovo, The Global War on Terror and Operation Enduring Freedom.
“I have gained a tremendous appreciation for this country we live in,” Brewer said in his artist cover bio.
Brewer is currently on active duty at Camp Lejeune, N.C. and is the regional manager for the Marine For Life Program.
“Marines take a great pride in taking care of their own and this program helps transitioning Marines with employment and education needs,” noted Brewer.
Brewer learned to play guitar while in college, planting a seed for chords and melodies.
“I love the freedom and control that comes from songwriting and my wife of 20 years and children are my inspiration,” he added.
Rhino Custom Products is manufacturing the album and will be offering it to its retail client base. It will also be available in the future at various retail locations. All album sale profits go to the featured musical artists.
Being from Maine, Brewer’s songs have a hometown flavor.
