Benjamin Boutilier, right, members of the Maine Army National Guard Military Honors detail demonstrated the military funeral honors flag folding and presentation ceremony preceding McGill’s Community Band Concert, July 3. This program is an entitlement for all honorably discharged veterans. The flag was then presented to Maine National Air Guard Captain Michael Shepherd of Eddington in memory of his grandfather, Roland Kelley, a Marine corps veteran of the Korean War. Shepherd is the son-in-law of band member, Gerald Riley, Jr. also a veteran. Riley played the traditional “Taps” for the occasion. Also participating in the program were both honor and color guards of the Chester L. Briggs American Legion Post 47 and Boy Scout Troop 155 displayed the service flags.
