There were 200 cars registered, along with the North Country Cruisers’ vehicles and the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum’s vintage tractor collection and some late arrivals boosted the overall number to around 250 units on display.
“This is a new record in spite of nearly $4 a gallon gas prices,” said Tim McAtee, show chairman. “It was perfect weather and we sold out the food booth and T-shirts, so the sponsors got lots of advertising.”
The President’s Memorial Trophy was presented to the family of Dick Morton, who was a club friend and supporter.
Other special awards were The Best of Show winner was Shawn Zotynia, 1953 Ford sedan, while the Peoples’ Choice was won by Malcolm Ford, 2005 Mustang GT.

The ice cream cruise drew 47 cars and many of those in attendance participated in fun activities held during the two-day event. Rachael Marshall won the teeter-totter game with a time of 7.6 seconds, while Joel Redman won Saturday’s Blind Driving Challenge and Toni Sherwood won Sunday’s challenge, beating her husband and all other competitors.
“Everyone watching said she drove faster with the blind fold on than off,” laughed McAtee. “We want to thank Houlton Power Sports for the use of the 4×4 side-by-side.”
Throughout the weekend, the North Country Cruisers had plenty for adults and children to do while checking out the vintage vehicles. Children were able to break open a piñata made by Paula Dahlk.
“They got lots of candy,” smiled McAtee.
The ballot crew, according to McAtee, did an “outstanding job” getting the results promptly.
The top winner of the Pre-50s category was Wayne Campbell, taking first place with his 1916 Ford and second place with his 1926 Ford. Finishing third was Gerald and Leona Michaud with their 31 1/2 Graham.
In the 1950s division, first place went to Shawn Zotynia, 1953 Ford sedan; second, Wayne Crosby, 1955 Chevy and third, Dave and Bobbie Pryrocli, 1956 Mercury.
Winners of the 1960s category, first, Wesley Bucklin, 1969 Roadrunner; second, Sonny Hornbrook, 1964 Chevy SS and third, Bonnie Folsom, 1960 Impala.
For the 1970s, first, Charlie Lane, 1970 Hemi-Cuda; second, Shelly Murchie, 1974 Camaro and third, Raymond McAvoy, 1974 Chevy Nova.
First in the 1980s division, Bev and Phil Nason, 1987 Buick Grand National; second, John Britton, 1981 Camaro and third, Ann Cassidy, 1983 El Camino.
Top in the 1990 to current model category, first, Gary Smith, 2003 Chrysler Sebring; second, Randy and Paula Mulherian, 2001 Monte Carlo and third, Carol Williams, 2011 Chevy Camaro.

McAtee said plans are already under way for next year’s show.
“We would like to include getting a pedal car for the kid’s games so they can have their own versions of the teeter-totter and Blind Driving Challenge,” he said. “We are looking forward to next year, any ideas can be given to a club member.”
McAtee also thanked the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum for its hospitality, along with David Hersey, who provided the music.
