SONGSTRESS — Wynta Boudreau sang “My Heart Will Go On” during the Variety Show on the evening of Sept. 2. The town of Sherman celebrated its 150th birthday with a busy weekend of activities.
ROYALTY — Named Little Princesses during the Little Miss Old Home Days Pageant on Sept. 2 afternoon were, from the left, Jayden Stevens, Jada Unterreiner, Emily Krafve, Skyla Lewis and Camryn Rush.
SPECIAL BOOK — All 500 copies of the 331-page “Memories of Our Hometown – Sherman, Maine” were sold during the 2012 Old Home Days celebration. Pictured are committee members Renee Unterreiner and Beverly Lane with the final copy of the book.
CAT’S MEOW — Getting her face painted during Sherman’s Old Home Days on Sept. 3 was 2-year-old Kiarra Conklin.
GRAND MARSHALL — 93-years-young Roxie Elwell was honored as Sherman’s oldest citizen. The parade was held Monday, Sept. 3.
CLOWNING AROUND — Shrine Potentate Tony Bowers was escorted for a time by a special crew – Shrine Clowns, from the left, Diggah, Spiffy, Piggy and Ty-Dy. There were also three Shrine vehicle groups in the parade.
YUMMY — Hotdogs and a Lobster Dinner were enjoyed by Harry Damon and Sandy Kiritsy of New Hampshire on Sunday, Sept. 2. Sandy’s grandparents lived in Dyer Brook.
PLAQUE — A special memory board was presented to the Washburn Memorial Church during Sunday morning services. In September 1954, the church celebrated Youth Day, when 16 bibles were presented and 9 infants and children were baptized. Pictured are, from the left, Rev. M. Ronald Beinema – who was the pastor at the time, Melinda Dagett Elwell – who was one of those baptized that day, and Rev. Daniel Proulx – the current pastor at the church since 2007.
LITTLE MISSES — Hannah Drew was crowned Little Miss Old Home Days 2012 on Sunday, Sept. 2. Pictured are, from the left first runner-up Cheyenne Unterreiner, Drew and Erin Lake, second runner-up.
PARADE — Entered in the “Most Humorous” category were the Soggy Bottom Boys. Pictured are, from the left, Aiden Kinney, mom Rebecca, Grady, Trace and Isaiah with dad Kent pulling the wagon. Second place went to Bonnie and Clyde with Abby Lane, Mason Lane as the title characters and Austin Suitter as the Policeman in hot pursuit. Third place went to Curious George with Wyatt and Sam McNally.
