Halfway through the new year, seniors are starting to hear back from their college applications and are forced to make the hard decision about where they will continue their education when they leave Southern Aroostook. Some seniors have easily decided their future while others are still deciding and still others have not the slightest idea of where they will be going or what they will be doing.

Breanna Stover has been accepted to four colleges including Northern Maine Community College in the liberal studies program, Regent University in Virginia, Eastern Maine Community College also in the liberal studies program, and University of Maine at Presque Isle. She plans on majoring in either liberal studies or social work but has not decided which college she will be attending in the fall.
Another senior, Madeline Bither has been accepted to UMPI in the physical therapy program, the University of Maine at Orono in nursing, and NMCC in nursing as well. She has not made a definite decision yet but is leaning toward NMCC.
Kristen Tarr, another SACS senior, has been accepted to UMPI, Gordon College in the honors program, and Farmington in the honors program where she also received an Academic Excellence Scholarship that was worth the amount of $12,000. She has also applied to Husson, the University of New England, and Colby. She hopes to be accepted to Husson where she wants to major in elementary education.
Vanessa Charette has been accepted to Flathead Valley Community College in Montana and the UM-Fort Kent. She has decided to attend UMFK, majoring in the nursing program.
Elizabeth Bishop has been accepted to UMPI, UMO and USM but is undecided about where to attend; she does have plans though to major in psychology.
Dylan Porter has been accepted to UMPI and has applied to Husson and UMO. He plans to major in the engineering field and has not yet decided where he will attend.
Rochelle Sirois plans to attend Empire Beauty School after receiving her CNA license from Region 2.
Two students, Mason Caron and Zachary Hartin-Brown, both plan on attending EMCC in the fall in the field of welding.
Sadie Chabot has been accepted to UMPI for the fall semester. Sadie plans on attending but declaring her major as undecided.
Desirae Dubois has been accepted at Husson and UMO with a Merit Scholarship of $4,000 per year, a total of $16,000 at the latter.
Jenica Frazier has been accepted to Gordon in Massachusetts and Nyack in New York. She has decided to go to Gordon where she received a renewable $11,000 scholarship and plans to major in either social work or undecided.
Ashley Crandall has been accepted to UMPI and plans to attend with a major of elementary education. She also received a Merit scholarship worth $2,000 per year for a total of $8,000.
Another senior, Ryan Wescott has a goal of attending college four years in the political science field but is still awaiting acceptance letters.
After high school, Sergei Bing plans on attending college in the forensics criminology field. He has not yet applied to any college but has three in mind and plans to apply soon.
Southern Aroostook also participated in UMPI Decision Day where students were able to talk to a college representative and find out immediately whether they were accepted to the college or not. On this day nine students out of 10 were accepted immediately. The tenth student was wait listed. These students accepted include Ashley Crandall, Jesse Boulier, Sadie Chabot, Paige Carter, Kristen Tarr, Elizabeth Bishop, Breanna Stover, Dylan Porter and Madeline Bither.
