HODGDON – Sharon Merritt, 66, passed away Jan. 23, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 20, 1946 in Houlton, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth (Rockwell) Kervin.
Sharon enjoyed outdoor activities, reading, playing cribbage with her family and friends, and relaxing on the porch at camp.
She leaves behind her husband, George Merritt of Hodgdon; her children, Reggie and Emily Dow of Linneus, Rhonda and Rick Barton of Clinton, Ryan Dow and Trecia Hanning of Houlton, April Merritt of Houlton; grandchildren, Anthony and Maranda, Brittany and Jordan, Briady and Kelly, Brandon and Haley, Desiree and Morgan, Devan, Craig, Cassandra and Matt, Sierra, Destiny, and Austin; great-grandchildren Shayne, Katarena, Camryn, Gunner, and JJ; brothers and sisters, Barbara and Pete Corey of Hodgdon, Verna Kervin and companion, Bob of Houlton, William and Jean Kervin of Hodgdon, Timothy and Diane Kervin of NC, Jayne Kervin of Houlton; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Dow; her parents, Elmer and Ruth Kervin; her brother, Robert Kervin; and her nephew, Bruce Kervin.
Visiting hours were held at Dunn Funeral Home Monday January 28, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a service honoring her life at 1 p.m. Following the service, family and friends were invited to a gathering at the American Legion Hall, 184 Bangor St, Houlton, to celebrate Sharon’s life.
