High school boys wrap up scheduled games

    High school basketball teams have finished their regular season, with some teams fighting for a spot in the Eastern Maine Tournament through a playoff game.
    Houlton 48, Caribou 54 — Last Tuesday, the Vikings took a 16-7 lead to open the game and held off the Shires with solid defense for the pointworthy win.

    Nick Guiod scored 17 points, while Kyle Bouchard added 11 and Daniel Swallow racked up 10 and Kole Buzzeo five more for the Shires, who took their first loss of the season.
    Caribou led 16-7; 24-15 and 41-34 at the breaks.

    Hodgdon 66, Limestone 35 — Last Tuesday, the Hawks outscored Limestone/MSSM 18-6 in the second quarter to surge ahead en route to the win.
    Hodgdon led 13-10 to start the game and behind Josh Hudson and Devon Logie’s six points apiece in the second quarter, they pushed the lead to 31-16. After three, Hodgdon held a 51-25 cushion.
    Hodgdon’s Chris Hudson finished with a game-high 24 points, while brother Josh posted 22.
    Hodgdon 88, GHCA 57 — Last Friday, Josh Hudson knocked down his 1,000th high school point in their final season win.
    Hodgdon led 21-6; 49-18; and 70-36 at the end of each quarter.
    Josh Hudson scored a game-high 32 points, while Matt Harmon tossed in 14 and Chris Hudson another 13.
    For GHCA, Deyrell Vargas knocked down 23 points and Russell Socoby tallied 19.
    GHCA 60, Wisdom 55 — Last Tuesday, the Eagles held off host Wisdom for a close win.
    Vargas led GHCA with 28 points, while Nathan Boynton hit a game-high 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Wisdom.
    Katahdin 59, CAHS 66 — It was a close contest last Thursday in Stacyville, with the Panthers holding Katahdin off.
    Chandler Brewer went 15 for 17 from the foul line and racked up a game-high 30 points to lead the Panthers. Steven Decker posted 14 and Dustin Pryor 11 more.
    For Katahdin, Colton Bivighouse poured in 30 points and Wyatt Morse tossed in 17.
    The Panthers led at the breaks: 17-10; 27-24; and 44-36.
    East Grand 54, Acadia Christian 37 — The Vikings jumped to a 17-11 opening lead and held a 33-19 cushion at halftime en route to the win.
    Kenny Winiarski led the Vikings with 21 points, while Logan Crone dropped in 14 and Jimmy Brittain added 10 more. Rounding out the scoring was Billy Stoddard with nine points.
