Community Lenten services begin Feb. 20

The Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association (SAMA) is pleased to announce this year’s schedule of Lenten Services.  The themes are once again taken from the devotional “Seek God for the City 2013”, prepared by WayMakers.  The five Wednesday evening services will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a time of food and fellowship.  The schedule is as follows:

    • Feb 20 — St. Mary’s Church, with the Rev. Patrice Goodwin preaching. Theme: “to renew Christ’s life among His people.”
    • Feb. 27 — Military Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Al Burleigh preaching. Theme: “to bring the light of the Gospel.”
    • March 6 — First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Holden preaching. Theme: “to reveal Christ’s glory to all peoples.”
    • March 13 — Church of the Good Shepherd, with the Rev. Art Myers preaching. Theme “to see righteousness in our cities.”
    • March 20 — Houlton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Hutchinson preaching. Theme: “to bring his peace in relationships.”
    • March 29 — Good Friday Service will be held at noon at The Salvation Army. A time of fellowship and food will follow. All offerings received from the above services will benefit The Salvation Army’s Fuel Assistance program.
    • March 31 — Easter Sunrise Service will take place on St. Mary’s porch at 6:30 a.m. A Community Breakfast will follow at the Unitarian Church, hosted by The Houlton Unitarian Society and First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. The breakfast is free (donations accepted). All welcome.
