Health Services Foundation grants funding to Oakfield Fire Department

Recently the Health Services Foundation was approached with a request from Assistant Chief Anthony White of the Oakfield Fire Department in support of a request to purchase a “Tough Book” laptop computer.
“The Oakfield Fire Department has now purchased and received the ‘Tough Book’ laptop,

which will help track and report any EMS calls that we respond to in our coverage area,” said White, assistant chief. “This would not have been possible without help from the Health Services Foundation in Houlton. We appreciate the help and know this piece of equipment will help the Oakfield Fire Department as we grow our new EMS system.”
The Foundation provided grant funding to those who contribute so much to the local communities, and the Oakfield Fire Department is very deserving given the rural nature of the areas people live in. Those individuals associated with this department are very serious about what they have to do when difficult situations arise, said Elizabeth Dulin, Foundation executive director.
“Not having a rescue vehicle of their own, first responders must provide the very best in medical care they can while awaiting the ambulance service to arrive. When you are giving good medical attention in any given situation, the quality of that care also provides enormous assurance to those who are in need of help. It is easy when everything is right at hand, however, in their situation they have to go the “extra mile” to make sure they are doing all they possibly can during an event. Saving lives is what they are all about and we wanted to go the ‘extra mile’ for them as well so their job can now be a little bit easier,” she said.
“As always, we thank our donors who consistently support all our efforts, as we would not be able to do extend this kind of assistance to those who so deservedly need it if it were not for them,” said Dulin.
