RSU 50 school board met on Feb. 11 at Katahdin High School.
According to Superintendent Larry Malone, “As a new RSU we are revising all policies, so we usually have some for first and second reading. All policies must be voted upon.”
The board also discussed an issue concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act.
“We have incline lifts at all levels of the building, which meet ADA requirements,” explained Malone. “Our concern is the lift in the elementary wing requires continuous service and has currently been repaired; however, it will need to be replaced soon. We have to be approved for a renovation before any action can be taken.”
In other business, the snowplow bid went to Dennis Brackett.
The next RSU 50 meeting will include discussion on the buildings and grounds Thursday, March 7 at Southern Aroostook Community School in Dyer Brook, with the regular board meeting set for Monday, March 11 at Southern Aroostook at 6:30 p.m.
