FORT KENT — The University of Maine at Fort Kent graduating seniors received their degrees at the 131st commencement exercises at the University of Maine at Fort Kent on May 18. University President Wilson G. Hess presided over the ceremony that conferred 148 bachelor degrees and 31 associate degrees.
In addition to awarding the diplomas to the class of 2013, President Hess conferred the Honorable John L. Martin with an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Judith Pimental, senior class representative, addressed her fellow graduates. Pimental is from Fort Kent and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Levi Kane Prosser (Houlton) was presented the Environmental Studies Award for outstanding achievement and work in his major area of study.
Baccalaureate degrees were awarded to students in behavioral science (11), biology (4), business (17), computer applications (3), educational studies (1), elementary education (11), English (3), environmental studies (4), nursing (74), and public safety administration (7), secondary education (9) and university studies (2).
Associate degrees were awarded to students in business (1); computer science (2); criminal justice; (15), information security (2), applied forest management (6), and general studies (5).
