Hunter Safety Course set
    A Hunter Safety Education Course will be offered three consecutive Sundays, Sept. 15, 22 and 29 from 12-3 p.m. at the Island Falls ATV, Fish and Game Club on Mattawamkeag Lake.

    This course will not only be in a classroom setting, but features “hands-on” outdoor activities.
    Those wanting to attend must pre-register.

    The class will be open to 28 students, with those ages 10-14 being accompanied by a parent or guardian during the full program.
Archery, crossbow course offered
    The Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Hunter Education archery and crossbow course. This will be held at the Houlton Rifle & Pistol Club, 62 Aviation Drive in Houlton. The dates for this event are Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. There are 20 seats available. Youth soccer practices scheduled
    Just a reminder that the Houlton Recreation Department will be holding their youth soccer practices for registered players on the following days and times.
     Thursday, Aug. 29: Grade K at 9 a.m.; Grade 1 at 10 a.m. and Grade 2 at 11 a.m.
    Friday, Aug.30: Grade 3 at 9 a.m.; Grades 4-6 boys at 10 a.m. and Grades 4-6 girls at 11 a.m.
    Grades K-3 will practice on the soccer field near the playground in Community Park and Grades 4-6 will practice on the soccer field on the Bob Ruth Field in Community Park.
    If it rains, meet at the rec center.
