Stephen S. Murphy

    WESTFIELD – Stephen S. Murphy, 51, died December 31, 2006 at a Presque Isle hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born at Limestone on August 26, 1955, the son of Stanley and Goldie (Dyer) Murphy.
    He worked on area farms including working for Arthur Gough and Herschel Smith. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his son and grandchildren.
    He is survived by a son Ryan and his wife Stacie of Frenchville, two brothers Samuel of North Carolina, and Eric of Presque Isle, four sisters, Carla Murphy of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Glenda Amore of Jim Thorpe, PA, Barbara Garcia and Shauna Robbins, both of Presque Isle, two grandchildren, Austin and Layne Stanley Murphy, six nephews and three nieces, two former wives, Doris Murphy and Susan Barnes, and two wonderful neighbors Julia and Justine.
    Relatives and friends may call 1-2 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Spring interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Stephen’s dog “Buddy”, his faithful companion, will be interred with him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to TAMC  Oncology Clinic, PO Box 151, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
