Another wet week at VaJoWa! More than five inches of rain this week. However, the forecast calls for good weather this week. Keep your fingers crossed.
Events are slowing down at VaJoWa. The golf course is soggy, but in great condition otherwise. Come and enjoy the beautiful scenery before “old man winter” sets in.
It was a beautiful day Sunday and 32 people turned out to memorialize Jeanette Harvey for a four-person mixed scramble. First-place winners were Greg and Sara Douglas, Stuart and Becky Kelley with a score of 31. Finishing second with 36 were Peter and Carol Blood, Ted and Terry Pettengill and in third also with a score of 36 were John and Debbie Porter with Everett Boutilier and Phil Desmond. Closest to the pin winner on no. 4 was Everett with a shot of 10 feet and on no. 7 the winner was Sally Cyr with a shot of three feet. Many thanks to the organizers of this event and to those who donated prizes. Money raised will be used to buy ball washers for some ladies tees.
One final note of appreciation goes out to Craig Hartsgrove and his dedicated staff. Craig’s Maine Course Restaurant has provided VaJoWa and its patrons five years of great service, food and drink. Craig has decided that he needs to dedicate more time to his family as he has spent many hours running not only this restaurant, but Craig’s Clam Shop in Patten and an expanding appraisal business. He has decided to close the restaurant at the golf course. There will be one final chance to say thank you to Craig at a mixed scramble event at VaJoWa on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 1 p.m. followed by a dinner at Craig’s Maine Course. Advance reservations are required so please call or sign up in the Pro Shop or e-mail to golf@vajowa.com.
If you or anyone you know has an interest in leasing the restaurant please e-mail that request to golf@vajowa.com or call Warren at (207) 557-2323.
