Senior Students from the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton recently took their first of three college visits.
The first visit was to the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
The college visits are being taken with funds received through a MELMAC grant that the school received and is the first time that Region Two students visited a four-year college. “It’s a great opportunity for our students to survey the entire college landscape and discover what post-secondary opportunities are available beyond high school,” Ammie London, grant lead, said. “We’re concentrating on schools that we have dual enrollments and articulation agreements with, initially, and hope to branch out to other parts of the state as the four year grant progresses.”
Region Two Director David Keaton said future visits for Region Two seniors include Husson University on Oct. 25 and Northern Maine Community College on Nov. 5.
“We’re hoping to get parents to accompany their students on the bus and visit the campus as well,” he said.
Region Two junior tours will commence in the spring. MELMAC is a non-profit and is Maine’s largest, non-college affiliated educational foundation.
