The Country Music Jam that is usually held on Wednesdays at the snowmobile clubhouse on U.S. Route 2 has been postponed indefinitely, according to Clinton Roy, who is the leader of the group. Any one wishing to know further can call Roy’s number at 532-2353.
I’m sure there will be many disappointed people who will miss the Wednesdays Music Jam and will be glad when it returns to the business of singing and dancing.
On October 19 the Island Falls VFW Post 7529 held its monthly supper and was very well attended. Chef GreyHawk and his assistants prepared a roast beef and roast pork meal with lots of veggies and, of course, good desserts. The Post has already had half of the post home roof redone and is hoping to finish the other half soon.
Donations to finish the roof would be greatly appreciated and can be given to any post member. Still no sign of the raccoon at my bird feeders. Guess the one that got trapped a couple of weeks ago has not found his way back to this area, and I am duly pleased about that. I do have quite a few birds that keep coming to the feeders very regularly and the other day even had a good-sized woodpecker eating away and of course, there are the blue jays and chickadees. I am hoping the pair of cardinals that I had last winter will return.
Still no squirrels, so one day I may put out a new feeder I bought this summer and then pray that the squirrels keep away and don’t chew it all up. I still have the doe and her twins and usually they arrive at dusk and stay way down back near the woods. I can’t see them all that clearly so I don’t know if the buck is there or not. Last time I saw the buck one of the small deer was trying to get him to play and would dash all around him, but he didn’t seem to mind it at all, just ignored all the antics of the little one. Sometimes it’s a regular circus out back and fun to watch.
