I would like to thank everyone for coming to our house warming at our new location. It was a huge success and we are very proud of what we have accomplished. The inside is finished, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we were not able to get the vinyl siding on.
The facility is paid for in full. We still have a small mortgage on the land, but no mortgage on the building.
We will be open by appointment only until we get our volunteer base lined up. Once that is done we are looking to be open for four hours a day. We will run entirely off volunteers, there will be no paid employees.
November has started off much to our disappointment with many baby kittens. We have two tiny black balls of fluff that were pulled out of a dumpster, three others were found in town all with runny eyes no more than five weeks old. Another was found on a front porch and the list goes on. It is way too cold out there for these tiny souls to survive.
When I came to work one morning there was a kitten on the sidewalk so hungry and cold it was trying to get in my front door. We do the best that we can for all of these animals, we take them in out of the cold, we fill their bellies and get them medical attention. But the single most important thing that they need we can not provide — a home where they will be loved and taken care of.
This is where you, the public come in. There just aren’t enough homes for all of the cats being born. If you have a cat please make sure you get it neutered or spayed. If you can’t afford it, there are programs out there to assist you.
This holiday season give the gift of a home to an animal in need. Make a difference, the rewards are priceless. If you cannot provide a home, sponsor a kitty or dog for one month. Your donation of $30 will buy food and litter and provide medical attention for a cat for one month. Your donation of $50 will provide food and medical attention for a dog for one month.
Our wish list this year for the holidays is for every animal in our care to find a home for the holidays. We know this is a pretty tall order, but we believe in the magic of the holiday season.
