DONATION — Lori Weston, left, Rotary Club president, presents a check to Linda Faucher of the Cary Library for a digital subscription to FreedomFlix and to upgrade the children’s collection on Countries of the World.
Rotary worldwide is an advocate of literacy. With a donation from the Houlton Rotary Club, Cary Library will now have a digital subscription to FreedomFlix, which introduces the “Cornerstones of Freedom” series books. The donation will, also, allow the library to update the children’s collection on Countries of the World in electronic and print format.
The Cornerstone collection is geared toward grade 4 and up and provides facts in a clear, easy-to-understand format of 40 areas of history. The Countries of the World series provides a live tour of each country filled with facts on history, geography, culture, government and economic conditions. This series is a little more advanced reading level.
By providing a live history lesson and exploring many of the world’s nations, both of these collections will engage literacy, communication skills, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
