I hope this article reaches you before Thanksgiving. If it does not I’ll be thinking of everyone just the same. My wish is that blessings are bestowed on you and your loved ones, wherever you are. We have so much to be thankful for our life, family, loved ones and I could go on and on.
We are being treated to a beef stew in the community room on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Don’t know who the chef is yet, but it will be good, no matter who cooks. Another blessing for us!
And wasn’t it wonderful to open the door this morning and find my dinner, still warm, topped off with apple pie. Brian and Charlene Henderson delivered them, to those who signed up on the bulletin board earlier this week. The local American Legion sponsored this dinner as they do each year for the seniors, and anyone who wants to participate. We thank them for their service to us, and their good meal. Those who missed it, really missed a delicious meal.
Sympathy is extended to Irene Burton’s family in her death. Irene and I are close in age. I met her at her church several years ago while attending a senior function. Her family will miss her tremendously. Rest in peace, Irene. Linda Beaupre, who used to live on the second floor at Ricker Plaza, has four weeks old twin granddaughters.
I’ll bet Linda has a hard time waiting to see the babies. Congrats to all the family.
Do you remember what you were doing when John Fitzgerald Kennedy died in 1963? I remember clearly: was watching “As the World Turns,” the only soap opera I watched. I had one child at home and two others were in school. The lady across the street came over and told me and we both cried. What memories. Like one announcer on television commented recently, “The country has not been the same since his death.”
Our Thanksgiving quote is taken from Luke 21, 28: “But when these signs began to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.”
Have a wonderful and blessed holiday. See you soon again.
