On Dec. 11, the Happy Losers (a group of happy-go-lightly ladies who meet every Wednesday at the Whittier Congregational Church for a weigh-in and short program) met this day for a special reason — a Christmas party and luncheon to be held at the Brookside restaurant in Smyrna.
This group has been going to the Brookside for several years now for their Christmas outing and look forward to it each year. These ladies are mostly from the Sherman-Patten area with only two from Island Falls.
Anyone is welcome to join our group and enjoy the programs we have and to join us for our weekly coffee hour after. I have heard from son, Tom that his eye surgery has gone well and that is vision is slowly recovering.
During this cold spell my feeders are getting emptied quite fast and the other morning discovered while they emptied so fast during the night, I found several deer tracks in the snow under the feeders and deer have been having a field day. I plan to throw out some bread each night now. Still have three mourning doves come in the morning and, of course, a little red squirrel, and lots of chickadees and gold finch.
