Happy New Year everyone! May the year be filled with joy, love and blessings. I can’t believe it’s another year but that is what the calendar says! Ken Thibodeau, second floor tenant, has been transferred from a hospital in Bangor to Madigan for rehab. Ken, if you are reading this we all miss you and wish you good cheer in the New Year.
Did you know our liaison Charlene has a horse? I didn’t know it until I saw a picture of the horse in the office. I’m told it was a gift from her husband a few Christmases ago! Margaret Drew is an accomplished piano player. She entertained me a few days ago. Margaret has 11 children and has a beautiful painting in her apartment, the gift of her daughter of their farm in Bridgewater. Talk about talent, the Drews have it!
My nephew Chris Polk of Calais was a recent visitor of mine just before Christmas.
Evelyn Callnan celebrated a birthday, just before Christmas. Don’t want to make any enemies so I won’t give the number but Happy Birthday, my friend, and many more to come. We were sorry to learn of Gerald Callnan’s death, a relative of Evelyn.
A cancellation of a sing-along before Christmas was due to the fact that Paul Armstrong was ill. Paul is OK now and we hope he will remain that way.
I spent the week of Christmas with my daughter Kathryn Hall in the Bangor-Brewer area. When I went to Travelers to catch the bus December 23 and after an hour and a half wait with four other passengers, we were told, “no bus today.” After returning to Ricker Plaza, a phone call revealed no bus the next day. Luckily, I caught a ride, but that was scary. In all the times I’ve been riding the bus, I have never known that to happen. The weather was the reason.
The word some of the weather reporters are using now is “negative.” They are referring to the minus degrees our weather has been. Way below zero is the phrase. We don’t like it.
Keep warm and make the best of the weather. We can’t change it. Thomas Vasko has returned to his third floor apartment after 10 days at Houlton Regional Hospital. Thomas is blessed to be here so we are happy he is home safe and sound again.
Robin’s (Chambers) stuffed giant mushrooms were the big hit at Millie’s New Year’s eve party. Lobster, cherries jubilee and blueberry pie was enjoyed by the large crowd of revelers. At midnight, herring tidbits were consumed for a year of good luck. Hugs and kisses all around and then the party was over for the old folks. The next generation partied on.
Whenever a child is born, a multitude of angels sing out in joy for the new life that is about to bless the earth with its presence. God bless. Happy 2014!
