Evening personal enrichment classes start

    HOULTON — The RSU 29/70 Houlton Hodgdon Adult Community Education has a number of personal enrichment classes that begin next week. Quilting begins on Monday Jan. 13; Investments 101 starts Wednesday, Jan. 15; and Couponing commences on Monday, Jan. 27.
    Woodworking and Cooking 101 both begin in February. Course fees range from $10 to $50 per course.

    A beginning quilting class will be held Monday evenings starting Jan. 13 and continuing for 12 weeks. The cost is $50 plus each person must supply his or her own fabric. Sharon McFadden will teach this course from 6-9 p.m.
    Investments 101 is a course for anyone interested in planning for retirement or in retirement. The class will look at the many different investment tools and vehicles available to help us meet your goals for and during retirement. Lynette McLaughlin, financial advisor at Sage Financial, will teach the course from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 15 to Feb. 12 in Room 103 at the high school. The cost is $30.
    Couponing is a course that can show people how to save money in just three sessions. Participants will learn “shopping discipline,” ways to reduce waste and enjoy shopping again. Heather Hanning will teach this course from 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 27 to Feb. 10. The cost is $10. Participants are asked to bring current coupons from the weekend’s newspaper.
