To the editor:
I would like to thank reporters Gloria Austin and Joseph Cyr for their Christmas article, “The True Reason for the Season.”
My wife, son and I thought the article was perfectly written and unashamed of the birth of Jesus and giving glory to God. In today’s climate many media, print, TV are extremely careful whenever mentioning
the name of Jesus, with TV giving scant seconds to His birth and pale in comparison to the article written by your reporters. I’d like to thank Managing Editor Mark Putnam for not censoring as so many with the power to edit would have.
The Houlton Pioneer Times is the only newspaper I can read without becoming disgusted. I believe that is in part to the folks in northern Maine and especially the Houlton area — people who I believe to be the greatest in America — none better and Gloria Austin and Joseph Cyr again showed the rest of Maine and America why.
On behalf of my wife and son — thank you! To the staff at the Pioneer Times, and the best folks anywhere in Houlton, Maine, Happy New Year.
